Musee d’Orsay

To save a few bucks, I got a day pass to visit 2 museums. As soon as I finished at Musee Rodin, I headed to Musee d’Orsay.

The building was initially intended as an exhibition hall during the 1900 World Trade Fair. But the project was abandoned and a railway station was built instead. The Orsay station was built and designed for steam trains, but when the electric trains replaced them, the platforms were not long enough to be extended. The station was abandoned until it was dedicated to a museum housing 19th century arts in 1977. I have to say it’s my favorite museum thus far.

The original station clock is so fancy and is still working!

The artists’ collections include, to name a few well-known, Monet, Van Gogh, Renoir and Millet.
