Madeleine District 1

I decided to explore the Madeleine district today because of the inspiration from the St Mary Madeleine sculpture from the Louvre.

My first stop was this church called Place Saint Augustin which is just by the Metro station. You could definitely tell the age from the exterior of this church. It was built and an excellent example of 19th century architecture. As soon as I stepped into the church, my tears simply came down. I was very touched by its holiness and sacredness. It was quiet and peaceful, but I could visually see and feel how busy it was years ago people gathering here and worshiping their creator. I sat down for quite a while to absorb and enjoy this quite yet intimate moment with my God.

I then visited the 2nd church, church of la Madeleine. The front sculpture shows Jesus with Mary Magdalene kneeling beside him, entreating him to forgive our sins. This church was originally commissioned by Napoleon as a temple to fame, but he changed his mind and had it converted to a church.
