This scene reminded me of the traditional market in Taiwan. Piles and piles of clothes are for sale, and you just need to dig in and find whatever you like and pay for it. I felt I was in Taiwan.
A few memorable stops in Montmartre are
1. Sacre Coeur: Built on a hill in 1870, this church is made from unusually white stone, said to self-clean in the rain.
2. St-Pierre church: This church was consecrated in 1147 and is one of the oldest in Paris, started 16 years before Notre Dame. It’s a very simply, non-glamorous local church.
3. Place du Tertre: It buzzes with activity as hundreds of street artists attempt to sell their paintings. I thought the square was very artsy and pretty until some of the artists, non-stop, approached us and asked to do our paintings and portraits. I felt that they were pushy and gave us no air to breathe when we walked through the square.
4. Artist Van Gogh residence
5. Local market: fresh seafood, yummy!
6. My favorite floral shop so far
