Doing Laundry in Paris

So, it’s been a week since we arrived in Paris. Here’s a pile of dirty laundry that we needed to take care of. I remembered the hotel offers laundry services; a small load for $8 Euro. I also remembered a laundromat facility only one block away. Debating for a while, we decided to bring our dirty clothes to the laundromat to hopefully save a couple of Euro.

We put our clothes into the washer, and we couldn’t find the coin slot to put the coins in. Without knowing any French, we simply asked people with our facial expression and gesture and a nice lady showed us how it worked. Ha, it’s all automatic in a way; you select the number of your washer or dryer and put in the money and the machine starts by itself. We were there for about an hour and half and it costs us about $11.20 to finish 1/2 week worth of dirty clothes, considering I didn’t wash the sweaters I wore this week. I was joking that it will only take ½ load in my washer at home.

At the laundromat, I saw this cute little girl who was with her mom doing laundry. I “asked” the young mom if I could take a photo of her daughter by showing her my camera. She gave me the permission by nodding her head and smiling. I took one shot and showed it to this young girl, and when she saw herself from the digital camera, she chuckled and posed again for more photos. When I showed her the photos I took, I think she was amazed looking at herself in the camera and she even kissed herself on the camera. I ended up taking about 10 photos of her. She reminded me of the cute Sonia in Foster City.

  3. Sonia didn't think the girl looks like her...but I think they look alike a lot.

  4. I think Sonia is either in denial or she can't admit that she's that cute. :-) And it's probably the later. Haha
